LOWVILLE - G. Wesley Barnard, 85, died Thursday afternoon, October 29, 2015, with his family at his side in Lewis County General Hospital.
Wes was born February 17, 1930, in New Hartford, the son of Rev. Harold H. and Esther E. Enos Barnard. After graduation from Carthage High School and Morrisville ATC, Wes went on to Albany College of Pharmacy, receiving his pharmaceutical degree in 1958. He was a Pharmacist for Kinney's in Gouverneur, Carthage and Potsdam before moving to Lowville in 1970 with his family. He purchased the Lowville Pharmacy in 1974. He married Joan Bacon on March 13, 1954, in Ogdensburg NY. Joan passed away on December 12, 2008.
Wes was a member of the Lowville United Methodist Church, the Lowville Masons and the Lowville Elk's Lodge #1605 and was a past member of the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce and also served on the Carthage Savings and Loan Board of Directors. He was honored as Business Person of the Year in 1982 by the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his three daughters, Debra B. Strianese of Watertown, Cheryl B. Cole of Lowville, Michelle B. and Robert Timms of Binghamton; his four grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Ethan, and Sean; his brother, James Barnard of Adams Center and sister, Shirley Hoyle of Fayetteville.
Calling hours for family and friends will be on Friday evening November 6th from 5-7 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be at Lowville United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 7, 2015, At 11:00. with Rev. Marcia Wickert and Rev. David B. Herrmann, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Lowville Rural Cemetery.
