LOWVILLE - Wayne Charles Davis, 71, died at home early Monday afternoon, December 24, 2018 under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice, Inc.

Mr. Davis was born on January 23, 1947 in Watertown the son of the late Charles Lewis and Clara E. ( Madison ) Davis. Wayne grew up in Lowville and graduated of Lowville Academy & Central School . He joined the U.S. Army in September of 1967 and served one tour in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in March 1970. Wayne married Betty A. Petrovitz on June 12, 1999 at Lowville United Methodist Church . The couple made their home on Sharp Street .

Wayne was a life member and a member for 49 years of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, V.F.W., Life member of Disabled American Veterans, and a member of Lowville American Legion Post #162.

He was an avid New York Yankee and Minnesota Vikings fan. He enjoyed walking, going to Atlantic City and Turning Stone, and cruising in his numerous Mustangs.

Wayne is survived by his wife Betty, a step-son and his fiancé, Jason P. Ponzuric (Sayaka Kitamura) of Tokyo, Japan; his sister, Dona (Leo) Keenan of Black River; and their children, Tammy (Richard) Blunden; Becky (Sean) Egnew; and Cindy Keenan; his sister-in-law, Norma (Fred) Clark; and their children, James (Patty) Clark; Joel Clark; Cathi (Keni) Johnson; and Cris (Josh) Reno; his brother-in-law, Bill (Carol) Petrovitz; and their children, Katie and Andrew Petrovitz; several great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Sundquist Funeral Home on Monday, December 31st at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating, where military honors will be conducted following the service.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 30th from 2 to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon at the V.F.W. following the service.
