LOWVILLE - Walter M. "Walt" Morse, 84, formerly of Bostwick Street, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at his home under the care of his wife Ann and hospice in Fairhope, Alabama. Born in Lowville on February 3, 1928, the son of the late Earl John and Kathryn Rector Morse, he attended Lowville Free Academy. Walt was a veteran of WW II and joined the US Navy at the age of sixteen. He received his honorary high school diploma from Lowville Free Academy for his military service. On December 12, 1954, he married E. Ann Hotchkiss at St. Peter's Catholic Church. He was an installer and repairman for Lowville Telephone and retired from Contel after forty years of service. Walt was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a past commander and life member of the Lowville American Legion #162. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts and enjoyed hunting. Surviving Mr. Morse is his wife, Ann of Fairhope, his sons and their wives: Walter M. "Walt" and Kathy Morse, Jr. of Lowville and David W. and Jill Morse of Dallas, TX; his brother Earl G. Morse of Lowville; four grandchildren: Ashley, Ryan, Morgan, Derek, and a great granddaughter, Reeonna and several nieces and nephews. His daughter Charmaine Morse Fritsche, son Gary Morse and infant brother and sister all died before him. A military graveside service will be held in the spring at the Lowville Rural Cemetery.
