Violet Marie Farney

March 30th, 1962-December 20th, 2023

Violet was the daughter of Raymond and Virginia Cobb, a mother to Crystal Farney, Roger Cobb and wife Kelly, and Frederick Farney whom we lost in 2007 as well as her daughter in law Kelly Cobb. The sister of Raymond (Corkey) E. Cobb Jr, Darlene Lineberger, Virginia Boyle, Gary Cobb, Danny Cobb, Deena Sixberry, and her little sister Tammy whom became an angel at 7 years old She was married by heart to Richard J Lafave. She was known as Mema to her grandchildren Jaycob, Macinzy, Christian, Jayden, Mason, Breckon, Hailey, Izain, Gabby, Shania, as well as her great grandchildren Izzy, Carter, Brody and William. She was more than an aunt to her nieces and nephews especially Nickey and Troy and Chase Aubin and Megan Orton. Violet was previously married to Loren l Farney. She was family to many, Quinton Ellis, Tina Taylor and so many more. Violet, or as she referred to herself, Queen Bee, was a remarkable woman wrapped in the love of her family. When her kids were growing up, she spent her time teaching Sunday school at Castorland Baptist Church, and volunteering at Lowville Academy. She took immense pride in working at St Regis Paper Mill picking wood as well as her role as a homemaker, especially in creating the infamous ice skating rink where family gathered for years in fun a slightly competitive hockey games, her homemade totem pole and teepee. She was also very proud of achieving her GED in her 30s, a testament to her determination and resilience. You never knew what would come out of her mouth, whether it be a wacky or creative idea, a joke that would make you pee your pants, or an unexpected outburst. She had an uncanny talent for turning everyday activity into unforgettable memories. Violet had a way with her words, expressing her emotions and thoughts in her own beautiful and unique way. Embracing life with her love and zany enthusiasm she always found a way to make one smile and chuckle. Recently while staying with her daughter she found new passions for pinterest, scoping the online aisles out for gifts for her family and a mild obsession with Love Island. The hospital staff formed a special bond and Violet soon became infamous for her laughter, playful jokes and teasing. In the end Violet found peace in reuniting with her son Fred, surely sharing jokes and memories… Their joyful spirits reunited as they sing and dance together creating smiles, laughter and love.

Violet's Celebration of her life at Busted Grapes Winery, has been postponed, for this Saturday, January 6th.
