LOWVILLE - Treva E. Shaw, 97, of Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 where she was a resident since June of 2009. Born on November 29, 1913 in Harrisville the daughter of the late Frederick A. and Blanche E. Cring Valentine. Treva graduated from Harrisville Central School in 1932. Mrs. Shaw was a long time employee of the A & P in Lowville and Watertown stores where she worked in the meat department and also as a cashier. She married Chester W. Young on August 1, 1936 in Watertown. Mr. Young died on September 1, 1968. Treva was also the widow of Erwin O. Miller. They where married on December 27, 1985 in Denmark. Mr. Miller died on June 4, 1987. She then married Jerome Shaw on October 2, 1989. Mr. Shaw died on April 7, 1993. Treva loved making afghans, crocheting, and her favorite was knitting dish cloths which she shared with family and friends. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. As an avid baker Treva made cakes, desserts, pies, and she was well known for her delicious donuts. She was a member of the Lowville United Methodist Church, a life member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and a past member of Lowville American Legion #162 Auxiliary. Surviving are her daughter and her companion, Jane E. Dunn and Richard Williamson of Camden; her son and daughter-in-law, John G. and Karen Young of Doylestown, PA; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren; her four sisters, Dorothea Randall, Vivian O'Brien, and Phyllis "Jean' Sayer all of Watertown, Marilyn Cagwin of Richmond, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Frederick and Anne Valentine of Brownville. She is predeceased by her infant son, Robert V., and three brothers, Donald, Jack, and Charles. A funeral service will be on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 11:00am at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Marsha J. Madore, pastor of the Vienna United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Harrisville Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6 - 9pm on Wednesday, July 6th at the funeral home in Lowville.
