IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tracey E.
Chamberlain
November 13, 1953 – January 4, 2025
Tracey E. Chamberlain, 71, died January 4, 2025 at Wynn Hospital, Utica, after complications of Parkinson's disease.
She was born on November 13, 1953 in Lowville, New York to the late George T. and Emma (Hongo) Ewing. She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1971 where she participated in gymnastics and cheerleading, and proudly achieved her LPN Nursing license from BOCES.
After high school, Tracey worked at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, NY. In the late 1970s, she began working at the Kraft food plant in Lowville, and for nearly 30 years was a line worker and then lab technician, taking an early retirement due to an injury.
When she was young, Tracey loved traveling to California, the Bahamas, Atlantic City, and Florida. She was also a talented wedding cake maker, seamstress (making her own clothes as a young girl), knitter, and loved trying to replicate her mother's Hungarian recipes. Like her mother, she also enjoyed growing beautiful orchids. Her frequent trips to Turning Stone Casino to gamble and dine with her mother and friends was always a fun experience for her.
Tracey's proudest achievement was helping build the family business, Cedars Golf Course, located on the family homestead on the East Road. She was a skilled golfer and became a member of the 6-women team. Mostly, she enjoyed the customers throughout the many decades she was a part of the business. Many of them became like family. Attending her grandchildren's school events and games were another highlight of her life. She was also a loving and kind caretaker to her companion, Floyd Martin, while he battled cancer. She also cared for her mother for several years after she suffered from a stroke.
Tracey is survived by her two children: a daughter, Tanya (Mark) O'Connor, Lowville, and a son, John R. "JR" (Diana) Chamberlain II, Lowville; her grandchildren, Brian J. O'Connor and Sydney (Evan) Morine; a great-grandson, Mason Morine; three step-grandchildren, Brandon (Sintia) Marshall, Brooke Marshall, and Taylor (Liam) Wheatley; three step-great grandchildren, Junior, Emma, and Eliana, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by a sister, Sharon Ewing-Bush, Geneseo, and a brother, Thomas (Carol) Ewing, Lowville. She is predeceased by her parents and a sister, Kathryn Benson.
