GLENFIELD -Shirley Talmadge Koster, 85, passed away on October 24, 2014. She was born on February 17, 1929 in Hackensack, N.J., the daughter of the late Grace and Lewis Talmadge and grew up in Yonkers, where she met her husband Dennis Koster Jr. and married on September 30, 1946. Dennis passed away on February 22, 2015. She was employed as a Laboratory Technician while raising her children and also as a Switchboard Operator. She loved listening to Big Band Music and Frank Sinatra, watching old movies and reading. Shirley made many friends while a resident of The Baptist Home in Rhinebeck. Shirley was very proud of her children and family and loved them very much. She is survived by her eight children Denise (Frank) Andreotti, Pine Bush; Craig (Emilia) Koster, Hopewell Jct; Cathy (Jim) Coco, Matthews, N.C.; Pamela (Bill) Shaw, Carmel; Rhonda (Ken) O'Connor, Hurley; Karen (Scott) Markumas, Carmel; Amy (Karl) Forste, Saugerties; Jeffrey (Kimberly) Koster, Rhinebeck; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Calling hours for family and friends will be on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 3 to 6 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home in Lowville. A spring burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery.
