WATSON - Shirley M. Chambers, 89, died late Tuesday evening, March 31, 2015, at the Sunset Nursing Home & Rehab Center in Boonville. Shirley had previously lived on Route 177 and in the Beaches Bridge Trailer Park. Born in the Town of Martinsburg on December 5, 1925, to the late Leon D. and Ruth Terrillion Edick, Shirley attended Lowville Free Academy. On November 10, 1943, she married Glenn W. Chambers at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Norwich, CT with Rev. Thomas Farrell, officiating. Shirley worked for the Metropolitan Department Store in Norwich, for W.T. Grant in Watertown and at the Northwoods in Old Forge. Her husband Glenn, a well-known sheet metal worker with SMWIA Local #58 died on January 4, 2003. Shirley was a 52 year member of the Antwerp American Legion Post # 916 Auxiliary. In her retirement, she loved spending time with her family; enjoyed crafts, sewing, reading and gardening and canning. Surviving are her seven children, her three sons, Donald W. of Watson; Ralph E. (Candace) of LaFayett; Robert G. of Watson; her four daughters, Irene (Gerald) Orvis, Jr. of Clayton; Tricia (William) Shimkus of Orefield, PA; Carol (Stephen) Pickert of San Marcos, TX; and Nancy Chambers of Lowville; her sister, Marguerite "Peggy" White of Ilion; a sister-in-law, Margaret Chambers of New Hartford and Inlet; 21 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons Richard S. and Larry D. Chambers; a grandson Donald W. Jr.; a daughter-in-law Donna Chambers; a son-in-law Theodore "Ted" Smith; her five sisters, Helen Berrus, Mildred Boback, Ruth Berrus, Sylvia Veitch and infant sister Alice. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Sundquist Funeral Home at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, retired minister officiating. A spring burial will take place at the West Lowville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours are from 10:00 -11:30 A.M. prior to the funeral service. Memorials in Shirley's name may be given to: William H.
