LOWVILLE - Sharon L. DeLawyer, A committal service will be at Lowville Rural Cemetery on Monday, September 16th at 1:00pm, with Deacon Ronald Gingerich, officiating.

Sharon L. DeLawyer, 85, formerly of Collins Street, died early Thursday morning, August 1, 2024 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she has been a resident since 2022.

Mrs. DeLawyer was born on June 23, 1939 in Lowville, the daughter of the late James T. and Clara Mae (Clarke) Foote. She graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1958. She graduated from adult classes at Lowville Academy for her New York State License Practical Nurse, license. Sharon worked at Lewis County General and then did home healthcare.

She married Dorrance E. "D.A." DeLawyer on November 21, 1974 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. They made their home on Trinity Avenue. Dorrance died on September 30, 1997.

Sharon is survived by her son and wife, Jason D. (Hannah) DeLawyer and their three sons, Gustav DeLawyer, Ozzian DeLawyer and Tor DeLawyer; her daughter-in-law, Janice E. Foote; her sister, Frances M. Lehman; her brother, Paul J. Foote; and her nieces, Melissa (Robert) Coy and Rhonda Foote.

She is predeceased by her son, Jamie T. Foote, her sister, Leigh B. Legary, her brother, Duane H. (Tina) Foote, her sister, Joyce F. (Vernon) Pellam, and sister-in-law, Donna Foote.

Sharon was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Life member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and Lowville American Legion Post #162 Auxiliary. She love word puzzles, and traveled to Sweden twice which she loved.
