Sharon Mumford Bolliver Wolf, of Lowville, passed on Friday, November 2 with her family by her side. Sharon was born in Lowville on December 29, 1937, to John Sylvester and Bernice O'Brien Mumford. The youngest of four, she graduated from Lowville Academy in 1956 and worked for several years as a telephone operator.

Sharon married John P. Bolliver II on August 12, 1961, at St. Peter's Catholic Church. She and John spent their married life at the Bolliver family farm on Rte. 26 in Lowville. They continued operations at the farm started in 1892 by John's grandparents, succeeded by his parents Clarence and Marion Hanno Bolliver. Sharon and John had two children, Brenda Sharon in 1964, and John Peter III in 1969. Sharon and John enjoyed dances at The Elks Club, snowmobiling, spending time at Brantingham Lake with their children, socializing with their many friends, and domestic and international travel.

Sharon loved the farm. A lover of all animals, she delighted in each newborn calf or litter of kittens. Sharon loved many cats over the years, most notably Shoo-Shoo, Parsippany, Tiffany, Diane, Maggie, Pierre and Pepper; as well as Sam, the dog.

When John's life was cut tragically short in 1975, Sharon purchased a home on Waters Terrace in Lowville for herself and her children, where they learned once again to be a family.

Sharon was a member St. Peter's Church, St. Theresa's Guild and The Lewis County Hospital Auxiliary, all while finding her place in the community as young widow.

In 1983, Sharon and Ken Wolf opened The Wolf's Den restaurant in Turin, NY. Ken purchased the former Down the Road at the foot of Snow Ridge and began a labor of love. Features included tableside cooking, Mary Ann Kelpy at the piano on Saturday night, and Buddy the dog. Despite the long hours and headaches associated with a small business, Ken and Sharon took joy in providing their customers, many who became friends, with great food and drinks, plenty of good humor, and stories that will be live on for years. In 1994, the reins of the business, soon to be called Steak 'n Brew, were turned over to Paul Virkler, who kept many of Ken's specialty menu items.

On December 17, 1994, Ken and Sharon married on Waters Terrace. They spent many happy years there, enjoying travel and their human and feline family.  Sharon and Ken were active in the NYS Restaurant Association and The Epicurean Delight, which benefits Hospice.

Ken and Sharon shared the joy of seeing Sharon's children marry. In 1996, John married Laura Weir in Peconic, NY. In 2009 Brenda married David Flanders in Syracuse. In 1998, John and Laura welcomed Abigail Rose Bolliver, Ken and Sharon's first and only grandchild.

Sharon is survived by her children, Brenda (David) of Syracuse; John (Laura) of Southold, LI; her granddaughter Abby (Brett) of Longmont, CO; her sister, Muriel (Doug) Herzig of Endwell, NY; her sister-in-law, Linda Handy Mumford of Lowville; her feline "bestest boy" Pepper, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Bernice; her in-laws, Clarence and Marion; her husband, John; her brothers, Brian D. and John C.; her husband Ken, and her very special aunt Ruth 'O'Brien.

Sharon will have a funeral Mass said on Saturday, November 16th at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in the Lowville Rural Cemetery with her beloved husbands. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, November 15th  , from 5 to 7:00 pm at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
