IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth M.
Zubrzycki
August 1, 1940 – August 19, 2025
LOWVILLE - Ruth M. Zubrzycki, 85, died early Tuesday morning, August 19, 2025, at the Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Boonville.
Ruth was born August 1, 1940, in West Martinsburg, the daughter of the late Floyd Max and Irene Lucile (Vary) Manzer. Ruth graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School as Miss Lowcadian. On September 3, 1960, she married the best looking boy she had ever seen, Stephan M. Zubrzycki, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church with Rev. Cassian A. Zembrzuski officiating. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm, where they raised their family and created memories with their extended family, for most of their married life, in West Lowville. During that time, Ruth was also very proud of her work as dental assistant at Dr. Geidel's office and her time with children at the Hand-in-Hand After School Program. Ruth and Steve retired in 2007, selling some of their farm property to the future Tug Hill Vineyard. They then made their home on the McCue Road in Lowville. Ruth spent much of her time caring for elderly friends and her mom, after their move. The love of Ruth's life passed on October 22, 2013.
Ruth's greatest joys were her two sons and their wives, Timothy J. and Katherine Zubrzycki of Syracuse; Anthony S. "Tony" and Karen Zubrzycki of Lowville; along with her five grandchildren, Benjamin (Mackenzie) Wakefield, Chase Zubrzycki, Cole Zubrzycki, Stephan Zubrzycki, and Emma Zubrzycki.
She is also survived by her sister, Sally (Allyn) Roseboom of Ava; her two brothers, Mark E. (Jane) Manzer of Renfrew, PA; and Paul K. (Janet) Manzer of Salem, NH; a sister-in-law, Sophie Zubrzycki, along with many treasured nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ruth was predeceased by her brother, James F. (Joan) Manzer, her sister, Shirley Elaine Manzer, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Frances (John) Butula, Janice Pelcher, Anthony Zubrzycki, Edward (Joan) Zubrzycki, Sophie (Edward) Samsa, Louise (Thomas) Sweredoski-Vogt (Leonard), Stanley (Rose) Zubrzycki, Karl Zubrzycki, and Caroline (Gerald) Williams.
Ruth and Steve enjoyed a lifetime of love and laughter with a huge circle of friends and family. Their adventures included bowling, polka dancing, euchre playing, traveling, golfing, snowmobiling, supporting high school athletics, and socializing with friends and family. Ruth loved visiting with anyone, taking pictures and sharing those photos with special notes to family and friends, writing special quotes and sayings in her many journals, cross-country skiing, and all kinds of music, including her violin and piano.
Ruth loved unconditionally and knew how to enjoy the moment with whoever she was with. She made everyone feel special. We can only hope to possess the patience, love, and faith that Ruth demonstrated throughout her wonderful life.
