Obituary

LOWVILLE - Robert Siemienowicz passed away peacefully on June 12, 2016 with his wife and son at his bedside. Bob was born May 23, 1934 the youngest child of the late Julius and Kataczyna Pogozelski Siemienowicz at the family home on Flat Rock Road in the Town of Martinsburg . He received his education in Lowville rural schools and the school of hard knocks.

In early years he worked on the family farm and was a self-employed logger. In May 1958 he became employed by the Town of Lowville as Maintenance Equipment Operator, retiring in 1992. Bob took great pride in the roads built during his employment. He raised balsam seedlings from seed which he harvested – planting a 30 acre field with the seedlings. He was very proud that each one of those trees was handled between his two fingers. He was involved with Christmas trees since the age of 12, selling retail and wholesale from 1958-2009.

Bob was the first land owner to sign a lease agreement with Maple Ridge Wind Farm and was very active in promoting the project.

Bob felt very blessed to be able to take an active part in the early life of his great grandson.

Bob married Doris Nancy Back on June 30, 1956 at St. Peter's Church with Msgr. John A. Cotter officiating. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, son John (Allise), grandson Aaron (Anastasia) and great grandson Aleksei all of Amherst, NH. Also surviving is one sister, Helen Keefe of Syracuse and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers Joseph, Edward and Walter, a sister Genevieve Bouck, half-sisters Stefka McNeil, Stella Elmore, Alice Bush, Hedwig Roberts and Eleanor Davidson and a half-brother Alexander Dauksza.

Bob was a member of St. Hedwig's Church and the Polish American Club.
