Obituary

HOUSEVILLE - Robert R. "Bob" Berry, 63, of NYS Route 26, died on Tuesday evening, November 1, 2011 at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse. Born in Copenhagen on November 18, 1947 the son of Robert W. and Florence M. Lawlee Berry he graduated from Copenhagen Central School in 1966. He continued his education with an associate's degree from SUNY Morrisville. Robert served in the US Army reserves. He married Cathy A. Wells on March 20, 1971 in Lindley, NY at the Lindley Community Church. Bob started working for NYS Office of Parks and Recreation at Whetstone Gulf State Park in May of 1968 and retired as Park Supervisor on December 29, 2002. Bob had a passion for collecting and selling sports cars which led to his own dealership, B & R Auto has been in business in Houseville for 32 years. Bob is survived by his wife Cathy, his two daughters and son-in-law, Julie Berry Hulbert of Lowville; Jennifer D. and Kevin Fayle of Glenfield; his five grandchildren, Brandon, Kaitlin, Matthew, Brent, and Brody Robert. His mother Florence of Copenhagen; his brother and sister-in- law, Patrick and Evelyn Berry of Black River; two sisters, Maureen Rumble and Mike Irey of Carthage; Charlene and Gerald Pickering of Victor; nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Robert, and a brother-in-law Rick Rumble. Bob was a communicant of St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Houseville, a 43 year member of Lowville B.P.O.E. Lodge #1605, Copenhagen American Legion Floyd Lyng Post #723, and Sno - Pals snowmobile club Barnes Corners. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends, and his camp at Brantingham Lake. A funeral mass will be on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor officiating. Calling hours will be on Friday the 4th from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home where an Elks service will be conducted at 7:30 P.M.
