Obituary

CHITTENANGO - Richard J. Morak, 78, formerly of Lewis County, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in Syracuse. Richard was born in Martinsburg, on June 25, 1936, to Joseph and Julia Wojnarowski Morak. He graduated from Constableville High School. Richard was a farmer most of his life in the Turin and Vernon area; did factory work and retired as a security guard. His family fondly remembers Richard as being very resourceful and inventive in making good use of many objects. A marriage to Alice Lamb ended after 27 years. Mr. Morak was a very devout Roman Catholic communicant of St. John's Catholic Church in Lyons Falls. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, July 26th at 11:00 a.m.at the Lowville Rural Cemetery with Deacon James W. Chaufty, officiating. Prior to the graveside service, family and friends may call at the Sundquist Funeral Home on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. Surviving Mr. Morak are his children, Leonard J. (Theresa) of Camp Verde, AZ; Michael J. of Richmond, VA; Thomas J. (Colette) of Selma, NC; Joseph F. (JoAnne) of Chittenango and Stanley V. of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren, Shane, Travis, Matthew and Rachael and his great granddaughter, Peyton. Mr. Morak was predeceased by a son, Stephen R. who died in 2001; two brothers, Edward P. and Raymond J. Morak and two sisters, Mary Slowik and Alice Demko.
