COPENHAGEN - Richard Goutermout, 71, of the town of Pinckney, died on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Carthage Area Hospital.
Richard was born on December 19, 1947 in Lowville the son of the late Gardner C. and Dorothy Jane (Birchenough) Goutermout. Dick graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1965. He joined the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He married Linda J. Years on August 9, 2003 at the family reunion at Sid Goutermout's camp with Justice of the Peace, Terry Brownell officiating.
Richard worked construction as a heavy equipment operator "dozer" for Tug Hill Construction for 24 years and retired from Lancaster Construction.
He was a life member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912 V.F.W. He loved going to Sid's camp, hunting, fishing and the Green Bay Packers.
Dick is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughter, Lisa K. Goutermout; his step children, Janeen Tate and Jim Smith; six grandchildren, Megan Tate, Jeffrey Jr., Jori, Jayli, Jacob, and Ethan; and several cousins.
Richard is predeceased by his brother, David Goutermout and his step-son, Jeff Hulbert.
Calling hours for family and friends will be on Wednesday, April 24 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. at Sundquist Funeral Home. His funeral will be on Thursday, April 25 th at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Mr. Ronald Gingerich, Deacon officiating. Military burial will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, New Boston.
