Obituary

BEAVER FALLS – Raymond D. Roes, 82, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility while under the care of Hospice and his family.

Raymond was born in Alden, NY, on November 11, 1933, a son of the late Samuel S. and Lena Nafziger.  After attending school at Lowville Free Academy, Raymond worked for Buick Motors in Flint, MI.  He returned back to Lewis County and was married to Anna Mae Widrick on October 18, 1958, at the Woodville Mennonite Church with Rev. Andrew Gingrich officiating.  The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in Constableville until 1988.  Raymond enjoyed woodworking, his flower gardens and his family.  Anna Mae passed away on August 9, 2009.

On August 11, 2012, Raymond married Wilma Watkins at his brother, Lloyd's camp.
Surviving Raymond are his wife, Wilma and his children: Kevin and Carol, Sandra Oblick, Merle and Sheryl, Sharon and Delvin Lehman and Donald and Brandi; a step-son Richard and Renee Watkins;  his siblings:  Edna Yousey, Nelson and Mary, Irene and Alvin Zehr, Alice and Alvin Roggie, Vernon and Doreen, Leonard and Judy, Nancy and Marvin Widrick and Melvin and Judy; his in-laws: Catherine Barnes, Carolyn Elford and Albert Owens; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friends Gerald and Anne Stinebrickner.

Raymond was predeceased by his sister, Anna Mae Noftsier and brothers, Maurice, Edward and Lloyd.

Mr. Roes was a member of the Lowville Mennonite Church where he was a member of the kitchen committee, helping with funeral meals or where needed within the Mennonite community.

Raymond's burial will be on Monday morning, December 14th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Croghan Mennonite Cemetery.

A celebration of life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowville Mennonite Church, with the Reverends Keith Zehr and Evan Zehr officiating.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Lowville Mennonite Church on Sunday the 13th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Arrangements are with the Sundquist Funeral Home.
