Rhubart
May 2, 1940 – October 26, 2024
LOWVILLE - Ray Edward Rhubart, 84 died late Saturday afternoon, October 26, 2024 at Lewis County General Hospital. He was formerly of Brookside Senior Living Community.
Ray was born on May 2, 1940 in Lowville the son of the late Lawrence and Marguerite (Archer) Rhubart. He graduated from Lowville Academy. Ray married Mary Schloop, his love and best friend at St. Peter's Catholic Church on May 25, 1957 with Msgr. John Cotter officiating.
He was employed 31 years by Niagara Mohawk Power. Ray was a life member of the Lowville Elks, a past President of the Board of Education for Carthage Central School. Ray and Mary started the booster club there to support the sports at Carthage.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; their four children, Kim and Bill Ada of Syracuse; Jill and Robert Ryan of Glenfield; Tammy and Brian Camidge of Doswell, VA; Denis Rhubart of Watson; 18 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren, Ray's biggest joy was spending time with them. He survived by his three sisters, Connie and John Alfano; Dot Adams, Jana Ingersoll; his brother-in-law, Fred Salsburg, and sister-in-law, Donna (Mike) Powlin.
He is predeceased by his great grandson, Brennan Derek Myers, his two brothers, Larry P. Rhubart and Timothy A. Rhubart, and his sister, Patricia Salsburg, his niece Renee Beyer, his brothers-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Schloop, Frederick (Becky) Schloop and John Adams.
Ray was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church where a Mass will be said on Monday, November 4th at 10:00am with with Rev. John Ojuok, Parochial Vicar, officiating. Burial will follow in Brantingham Cemetery.
All are invited to a luncheon at St. Peter's parish hall following the committal service.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, November 3rd, from 5 to 7:00pm at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
