LOWVILLE - Randy J. Young, 56, State Route 12, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Lewis County General Hospital. Mr. Young was born on February 19, 1957, in Lowville, the son of the late Emmett W. and Frances G. Hellinger Young. Randy graduated from Lowville Academy in 1975 and was a former member of the Watson Methodist Church as a young man. Randy was a self-employed carpenter who also worked construction. He loved to hunt and fish and work outdoors in his garden, sharing his vegetables with family and friends. He was an honorary member of the Bald Rock Hunting Club at Stoney Lake. Randy was a talented artist who enjoyed drawing, was a member of the Lewis County Pool League and was an "ace" at horseshoes seldom losing a match. Surviving are sons: Daniel R. and Marcie Young and their daughter, Aubreylee E. of Watertown and Cody O. Young of Utica; his sister, Pennie M. and Bob Kafline of Lowville; five brothers: Prescott W. and Patricia of Lowville, Ronald J. and Linda of Tom's River, NJ, David F. and Sally of Lowville, Rickey J. and Roberta of Dayton, WY and Kevin E. and Cindy Young of Maryland; a brother-in-law, Lancing Chapman of Glenfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Randy is predeceased by his brother, Emmett H. Young and sister, Bonnie A. Chapman. A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2014. Calling hours will be on Sunday, December 8, 2013, from 1-4 p.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
