Obituary

GLENFIELD - Phyllis (Domser) Martin, 92, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday January 3rd. Phyllis was born July 5, 1921, in the town of Turin, the daughter of Phillip and Mary Agnes (Lee) Domser and was a lifelong resident of the area residing on the Lee Road in Glenfield for over 65 years. She was a 1938 graduate of General Martin Central School and Utica School of Commerce. After graduation, Phyllis worked at the Lewis County Court House as a secretary to the Children's Worker. On October 10, 1940, Phyllis was married to Harrison M. Martin at the Congregational Church in Port Leyden with Dr. John Wetzel officiating. In addition to her accounting duties for Ted Smith Lowville Fuels, Phyllis also kept the books for her husband's logging business and for the Town of Turin while her husband was Superintendant of Highways. She was a member of the Glenfield Methodist Church. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison M. Martin (2003), her son, Ronald H. Martin (2003) and her sister Mary (Domser) Burton (2007). She is survived by her son Philip M. Martin and his spouse (Lucy) of Manlius; daughter Marilyn L. Davis and her spouse (Jerry) of Clayton and daughter Patricia A. Davis and her spouse (Jeff) of China Grove, NC. She is also survived by many loving grandchildren, Marnie (Martin) Powers, Philip Martin, Jr., Samantha Martin, Alex Martin, Brent J. Martin, Brad H. Martin, Susan (Davis) Kassal, and Michael Davis. Also, twelve devoted great grandchildren: Conor, Daniel, Christian, Emma and Eliza Powers; Philip, Harrison, and Rebecca Martin; Sara and Sophia Kassal; Grace Martin and Ciara Davis. A private funeral service will be held on Monday with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, retired Methodist minister officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the Turin Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Sundquist Funeral Home.
