LYONS FALLS - Peter A. Jarecki, 82, died early Sunday morning, February 5, 2017 at Lewis County General Hospital where he had been a patient for a day.

Peter was born on October 14, 1934 at the family homestead in Turin the son of the late Albert and Bertha Felips Jarecki, where he attended a one room rural school on Gomer Hill, and General Martin High School in Glenfield. He married Rose Marie Hoffman on August 23, 1956 at St. John's Catholic Church in Lyons , Falls. Pete retired from Lewis County General Hospital where he was a custodian for over twenty years. He and Rose made their home in Lyons Falls . She died on February 24, 1994 .

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Peter H. and Becky Jarecki of Lyons Falls; his sisters, Genevieve Seelman of Lowville, and Josephine Mroz of Arizona; his neighborhood family; his care givers, Stephanie and Jeannie; his son-in-law, Henry Bardo of Greig.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Sharon E. Jarecki-Bardo, his five sisters, Joan, Julia, Ruth, Stella, and Anne; and his five brothers, Benjamin, Paul, Frank, Raymond, and John Jarecki.

Peter was a communicant of St. John's Catholic Church, and St. Hedwig's. He enjoyed being outside in the summer, watching the goats and chickens and visiting with the kids, who he was known as, "Old Pete".

A funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. James Chaufty, Deacon of St. John's Catholic Church, officiating.

Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Calling hours for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 7th, from 5 to 8:00 P.M.

Jarecki family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon at the 3-G Fire Department following the funeral service. Food donations may be dropped off Wednesday morning at the fire hall after 9:00 A.M.
