Obituary

LOWVILLE - Pauline J. "Polly" Schell, 87, died early Thursday morning, April 14, 2016 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point of Hudson, FL.

Mrs. Schell was born December 7, 1928 in Theresa the daughter of the late Leslie R. and Kathleen (McNeil) Allen. She graduated Salutatorian of Theresa High School in 1946. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1949 and worked at Mercy until her marriage.

She married the love of her life, William R. Schell on August 25, 1951 at Theresa Methodist Church . Polly was a register nurse at Lewis County General Hospital where she was the nursing supervisor in the operating room.

William died on January 5, 1981 . Polly then devoted her life to her children and grandchildren.

Polly's memberships included, Lowville United Methodist Church , LCGH Women's Auxiliary past president and fundraising volunteer, Women's Golf League at Turin Highlands and Bridge Club. She had served as a Trustee in the Lowville Village Board.

Polly enjoyed golfing, her flower gardens and volunteer work. She loved holidays with her family especially Christmas at her Stewart Street home.

She is survived by her four sons, William R. Schell, Jr., Brownville and Port Richey, FL.; Randall A. and Deborah Schell, Lowville; Jon P. and Tina Schell, Lowville; Hans J. and Susan Schell, Littleton, CO.; her three daughters, Deborah A. (Tootie) and William Lyons, Troy; Constance M. and Jerome Thisse, Glenfield; and Gretchen S. and Peter VanDeCarr, Steamboat Springs, CO.; her grandchildren, Jeremiah Thisse, McKenzie Montella, Sarah Thisse, Jordon Schell, Kate Thisse, Billy Lyons, Patrick Lyons, Corrie Schell, Christian Schell, Ian Schell, Morgan Schell, Otis VanDeCarr and Oliver VanDeCarr; her step grandchildren, Amy Werchinski, Amanda Werchinski, Adam Timmerman and Aryn Rowsam; and her eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by a special niece Donna Alton, brother-in-law, Nelson (Jake) and Susan Schell, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Bill, three brothers, George Allen, Leo (Pete) Allen, Jack Thomas and sisters, Laura Getman, Blanche Fikes and A. Doris Allen

A funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Lowville United Methodist Church with Rev. David Herrmann, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery .

Calling hours for family and friends will precede the funeral on Wednesday morning, April 20th, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. at the church.
