Obituary

WATERTOWN - Pauline Agnes Anderson, 94, formerly of Highland Avenue, Lowville, died early Tuesday morning at Samaritan Keep Home, where she had resided for five years. She was born on October 31, 1916 in Stamford, CT, the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Killeen Detlefsen. Pauline married the late Donald Anderson on January 16, 1937 in Stamford, CT. They moved to Lowville in 1952 where Donald worked for Payne Jones/Boise Cascade. Pauline was a homemaker. Pauline and Donald made their home on Highland Avenue in Lowville for over 39 years. He died on March 11, 1995. While in Lowville she was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was past president of the St. Peter's Alter Rosary Society and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She also helped at St. Peter's by taking children from public school to Release Time Religious Education. Pauline was very active in the Lewis County General Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered working in the snack bar there for many years. Pauline loved knitting, crocheting, baking, and arts and crafts. She was a loving wife and mother always was there supporting her family through thick and thin. She had a long life spent praying daily, working hard and was always willing to talk, laugh and cry with the many people who knew her. She was loved by many in Lowville. At Samaritan Keep she became close to the staff who worked hard and always showed their love and patience with her. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Mary (Flood) Anderson of Watertown; daughter-in-law Susan Anderson of Goodyar, AZ; niece Patricia (Steve) Skratt of Hampden, ME; and grandchildren Aileen (Watertown), Dean (Phoenix, AZ) and Nicole (Arnold, MD). Pauline is predeceased by her husband D. Donald, son D. Donald, brother Timothy Detlefsen, and two sister's Gertrude A. Smith and Mary Ariotti. Pauline cared greatly about the people she met through Church involvement and the neighbors who shared their time with her. This list is very, very long. But you all know who you are. Don is waiting along with her Lord to give her the place in heaven that is certainly waiting for her. Goodbye mom, we will continue to meet you in our prayers...
