Obituary

LOWVILLE - Paul R. Jantzi, 85, died early Monday morning, March 25, 2019 with his loving family at his side.

Paul was born on September 20, 1933 in Martinsburg the son of the late Aaron L. and Susan Saloma (Ressler) Jantzi.  He graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School, he also received his License Practical Nursing degree. Paul was a LPN for Lewis County General Hospital from November of 1963 to June of 1978. He then drove over the road for Anchor Motor Freight from June of 1978 until he retired in 1993. During that time he was a school bus driver for Lowville Academy and Central School from 1964 to 1993. Paul also worked for (Earl Ford) Agway Petroleum.  After retirement Paul worked for Waite Toyota delivering cars.

He was united in marriage with Phyllis D. Widrick on August 14, 1952 at Lowville Mennonite Church with Rev. Lloyd Boshart officiating. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage together in the Lowville area and retired to their home on Bostwick Street.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, their eight children and spouses, Bruce (Ruth) Jantzi of Clintondale; Donna (Ritchie) Turck of Lowville; Florence (Rick) Breglia of Adams; Ellen (Barry) Waite of Henderson; Sundena (Lee) Cobb of Glenfield; Peter (Roberta) Jantzi of Lowville; Trinda Hayes of Barneveld; Tim (Kelly) Jantzi of Mexico; 28 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; his sisters, Ruthanna Miller of Vermont; Mary Smith of Lowville; his brothers, Mark (Rita) Jantzi of Schenectady; Daniel (Fay) Jantzi of Lowville; nieces and nephews, and the Widrick family.

Paul is predeceased by his granddaughter, Aleesha Cobb, great granddaughter, Paislee Cobb, and granddaughter-in-law, Katie Stefon Allen; his son-in-law, Ron Hayes; his brother Howard Jantzi.

Paul was a member of Lowville Mennonite Church where he was an active volunteer in many capacities, trustee, and usher, the Mennonite Central Committee, and past member of Adirondack Mennonite Heritage Farm. He was a member of Beaver Falls Senior Citizens, and Black River Campers. Paul and Phyllis RV traveled to every continental state, and visited Hawaii.

Calling hours for family and friends will be at the Lowville Mennonite Church on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 from 2 to 4:00 P.M. and 6 to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will on Thursday, March 28 th at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Keith Zehr, Pastor and Evan Zehr officiating. Burial will be on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in Croghan Mennonite Cemetery.
