LOWVILLE - Mona Christman, 83 Mona Lucille Widrick Christman went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on January 7, 2012 at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility since 2007. Mona was born in Croghan on April 27, 1928 the daughter of Jonas and Lucille Powers Widrick. She graduated from Lowville Free Academy in 1946. Mona married Donald H. Christman on May 21, 1947 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. O.T. Anderson officiating. Mona and Don were married 60 years before Don passed away on December 4, 2007 and were long-time residents of Lowville. Surviving are her five children: Two sons Charles H. Christman of Niceville, Florida and Scott (Patricia) Christman of Somerville, Alabama; three daughters: Sandra (John) Holmes of Cazenovia; Marcia (Robert) Lee of Lake Placid, Florida; and Lori (Dale) Brown of Turin. Mona had 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Surviving siblings are: Robert (Muriel) Widrick of Lowville, Jeanette (James) Spencer of Raymondville, NY, and Alice (John) Grau of Lowville. Mona was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Ana (Charles) Christman and her brother, Walter Widrick. Throughout her career Mona worked for California Fruit Market, Lewis County Selective Service and The Board of Elections. She was involved with the American Legion Auxiliary and served as its President. She enjoyed traveling and she and Don traveled in the U.S., Hawaii, Europe and wintered in Florida. Mona was a member of the Lowville United Methodist Church and in later years attended Abundant Life Fellowship in Boonville. A memorial service will be held on April 28, 2012.
