Obituary

CROGHAN - Mildred Moshier, 96, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility.

Mildred was born on October 13, 1918, in Croghan to Jacob R. and Irene Martin Moser. Her mother passed away before her second birthday on July 3, 1920 and her father married Katie Steinman on December 25, 1928, when Mildred was 10 years old. Mildred attended the Gooville Country School. She married Harold Andrew Moshier on May 29, 1941, at the Croghan Amish-Mennonite Church. Following their marriage they owned and operated a farm on Old State Road in Croghan until they sold it to their son in 1974. The couple then moved to their current home in Croghan.

Mildred was a member of the Croghan Mennonite Church and was active in the Dorcas Sisters Sewing Circle. Up until very recently, Mildred was putting strings in kit bags for M.C.C. Mildred enjoyed making quilts, gardening and crossword puzzles. She would really enjoy the family get-togethers at her home on Saturday evenings. There were many nights with a houseful of four generations of family.

A funeral service will be on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. at the Croghan Mennonite Church with Rev. Paul Mast and Rev. Bruce Roggie officiating. Burial will be immediately following the service in the Croghan Mennonite Church Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends will be on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, from 5-8 P.M. at the Croghan Mennonite Church. Services are under the care of the Sundquist Funeral Home, Lowville.

Surviving are her two daughters and one son: Marilyn Lyndaker; Joyce and Jim Zehr; Duane and Lisa Moshier all of Croghan. She has seven grandchildren, Eric Lyndaker (Croghan), Jeffrey and Deborah Lyndaker (Canton), Tracy and Jon Walseman (Castorland), Corey and Jerilyn Moshier (Beaver Falls), Erika and Bryant Ellis (San Antonio, TX), Jana and Steve Hoxie (Fort Drum/Watertown) and Jennifer and Jason Grunert (Croghan). Mildred was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her half brother, Donald and Arletha Moser and her half sister Claire Moser of Croghan and many nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Harold A. Moshier in 1997 and a son-in-law Edward Lyndaker in 2011.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to: Croghan Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 68, Croghan, NY 13327. We as a family wish to thank the 3rd floor staff at the Lewis County Residential Heath Care Facility for the excellent care Mildred received while there.
