WATSON – Dr. Megan Elizabeth Cartier, 44, passed away on February 28, 2023 after a long courageous battle with cancer at home under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

Megan is survived by her parents, Carolyn and Jerry Cartier of Lowville. A brother, Matt (Heather, her sister in love) Cartier, a niece Ashley N. Cartier (Jon), and a nephew, Noah N. Cartier, and her beloved dog, Logan, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Megan was born in Colorado Springs, CO, where her dad was serving our country at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Megan attended many schools in U.S.A. and Europe. She graduated from Indian River High School in 1996 with honors. Megan joined many school activities and sports. She was active in Key Club, JROTC, FBLA, and co-editor of the school newspaper. Megan also was awarded the Gold Award from the Girl Scouts of America.

Megan received her B.A., from U.N.H. (Durham, NH), her Masters of Education from Georgetown College (Georgetown, KY) and most recently was awarded her PH. D in Inclusive Education and Disability Studies at Syracuse University.

At the time of her passing she was a Professor at The College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY. "Her dream job" All Megan wanted was to teach teachers who would pursue degrees in Inclusive Education.

Keeping with Megan's wishes there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lowville. Immediate following the Mass the family will receive family and friends at the VFW #6912 in Lowville.
