BEAVER FALLS – Marjorie E. Barker, 91, formerly of the Van Amber Road , died Friday afternoon, September 1, 2017 .
Mrs. Barker was born in Lowville on June 7, 1926 , a daughter of the late Antonias and Mildred E. (Johnson) Roy. She married Paul R. Barker on February 4, 1948 , in Black River with Rev. Withington, officiating. Marj graduated from Lowville Free Academy and was a nurses' aide at Lewis County General Hospital working throughout the hospital from 1963-1990. She especially loved the maternity ward. Marj loved the outdoors, gardening, even playing softball with her children and knitting sweaters.
She was a member of the Lowville Mennonite Church , where she was a member of the sewing circle. She was also a life member of the VFW Lewis County Memorial Post #6912.
She is survived by her children: Richard (Lisa) Roy, Edwin (Lisa) Barker, Leon (Teresa) Barker, Linda Jewett, Paul R. Barker, Jr., Mary Barker, Shelvie (Billy) Irvin, James Barker, Twila (George) Ottinger and son-in-law Raymond Dicob; 14 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her two sisters, Audrey Fenton and Tiny Gerow.
Marj is predeceased by her husband, Paul in 1998, a daughter, Anna E. Dicob, brothers, Dennis J. and "Tadpole", a sister, Barbara Mansville and grandson, Dennis P. Dicob.
Calling hours are from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 8, 2017 , at the Sundquist Funeral Home followed by her memorial service at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Evan Zehr, officiating. Burial will be in the New Bremen Rural Cemetery .
