IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn L.
Spicer
January 1, 1933 – August 11, 2025
Marilyn L. Spicer, 92, of Turin, NY, passed away on August 11th with family at her side.
She was born on 1933 in Ira, NY to Laverne and Dorotha Wolven. She grew up in Bethel, NY and went to nursing school on Morrisville, NY where she received her L.P.N. License. She worked in clinics, hospitals and nursing homes. When she moved to Turin, she worked at Head Start.
She married the love of her life, Marion (Bud) A. Spicer in 1953, moving to North Carolina as he was in the Army Special Forces. When he retired in 1977, they moved to Turin, NY.
Her parents, brother Laren, son Brad and Bud predeceased her.
She is survived by daughters, Pam and Penny; son Lance, married to Petra; son Steve, married to Kelly; grandchildren, Hannah, Cole, Lily, Ruby, David, great grandchildren, Ryan, Melody, Desiree, and great great grandchildren, Luna, Thor and Odin. Many of them spent summers with her and Bud in Turin.
She was a gentle sweet force of nature. The Turin Civic Club was a joy for her especially bestowing scholarships to South Lewis students.
Always active and engaged, she loved fishing, gardening, especially her flowers, sewing, reading, crocheting, and knitting. She even upholstered furniture! A great cook and baker, she also canned a lot.
Saying her Bright Spirit will be missed by many is an understatement.
As the matriarch of the Spicer family, We All will miss her loving, kind, and thoughtful presence. We'll miss her laugh, her goofy phone messages, and her ability to make you feel part of her universe even though most of the family lived far away. She leaves a legacy of love and connection that will live on in her family and friends.
