Obituary

LOWVILLE - Margaret Tabolt, 81, passed away on Wednesday evening, January 28, 2015, at the Lewis County General Hospital with her family at her side. Her family would like to thank the entire staff of the Intensive Care Unit for their kindness and compassion at this time. Margaret was born on April 6, 1933, at the birthing home Idle Ease in Croghan, the daughter of the late Floyd and Kathryn Kirch Biche. She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1950 and earned her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in1953. On November 6, 1954, she was married to Frederick C. Tabolt at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Bremen with the Rev. Alphonsus Trabold, OFM, Pastor officiating. While raising her family, Margaret was a dedicated nurse for 37 years at Lewis County General Hospital. She retired as nursing home supervisor in 1991. She also served as on-call nurse for Lewis County Hospice. She took pride in being a mother but it was her grandchildren whom she loved with a kind and caring heart. She always looked forward to their visits, as they were her pride and joy throughout her life. Margaret was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lowville; a member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912 VFW Auxiliary; a member of Mercy Hospital Alumnae and a member of Friends of Hospice. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing, gardening, reading and spending time at camp with her family and was a member of the Tug Hill Quilters. She is survived by her husband, Fred of sixty years and their four children: John F. (Cathy); Thomas P. (Renee); Kelly E. (Wallace) Balash all of Lowville and Jerry M. (Susan) of Rome; her beloved grandchildren: Jacob Tabolt of Canton, son of John; Ryan, Cory, Miranda, Jordan and Jeffrey, children of Tom and one great grandson, Wyatt. Margaret is also survived by a sister, Korleen "Corky" Biche of Beaver Falls and her brother, Peter (Linda) Biche of Hermosa Beach, CA; her best friend, Nina Schneeberger and family members in Bradenton, FL. In addition, she is survived by sisters-in-law, Eleanor Curtis of FL, Marcia Jewett of Evans Mills, Carol Hulbert of Palmyra and Patricia Tabolt, Lowville and two brothers-in-law, L. Michael and Mark Tabolt, Lowville. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Marie Tabolt. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, January the 30th at the Sundquist Funeral Home from 5 to 8:00PM. A funeral mass will be said on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lowville, with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor officiating. A spring burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Bremen. Everyone is invited to a luncheon at the Lewis County Marine Corps League where food donations may be left.
