COPENHAGEN - Margaret A. Hutto, "Maggi", passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, June 7, 2025 at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse after a brief illness.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 20th from 3pm to 6pm at the Copenhagen Fire Hall.
Maggi was born on July 18, 1950 in Lowville the daughter of the late Harry J. and Anna L. (Raab) Morse. She graduated from Copenhagen Central School in 1969. She held various jobs throughout her life including working for Snow Belt Housing and Lewis County DSS. As well as providing care to the elderly. She was a proud past member of the Copenhagen Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Marriages to Randy Johnson, Watertown and James Hutto, Columbus, GA, ended in divorce.
Maggi enjoyed crafting, gardening, decorating and was involved with 4-H. She had a knack for making a house into a home and strangers into friends, drawing people to her with warmth, wit and kindness. She loved deeply and fiercely and was always willing to help someone out. She loved playing pool. Maggi and her father shot pool in the Senior Olympics together.
Among her survivors is her sister, Victoria (Vicki) Hill and partner Matthew Gormley, Rodman; her nephews, Ryan Morse, Rochester; Tim (Julia) Morse, Canton; Trevor (Kaitlyn) Morse; William (Nicole) Hill, all of Copenhagen; her nieces, Jaycee Hill, Copenhagen and Lora (Eddie) Kerr, Hamilton, GA; as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Maggi is predeceased by her brother, Harry "Joe" Morse, Jr., her brother-in-law, William (Butch) Hill, and her former husbands.
Her family would like to express gratitude to the staff at St. Joe's who provided comfort care to Maggi in her final days, and her friends who've reached out with heartfelt compassion.
