LOWVILLE - Margaret L. Burdick passed away Friday, March 23rd at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility in Lowville where she had been a resident for one year. She was 95 years old. She was born in Betula, PA on February 5th, 1917 to Joseph and Giovanna Lorenzini. Raised in Lowville and graduated from Lowville Free Academy, she was married to Norton T. Burdick of Grieg on May 20th 1945, at St. Peters Church in Lowville. She lived five years in Port Leyden where her husband ran Burdick's Superette, and then in Carthage where she and her husband owned Burdick Dodge for over 20 years. After her husband's death she moved to Valley View Apartments in Lowville, where she resided for 10 years. A member of the Port Leyden Monday Club and of the Carthage Argonauts Book Club, she devoted many years to volunteer work at both the Carthage and Lowville community libraries. She is survived by her daughter Janet E. (Robert) Stange of Riverton, WY, her son John N. Burdick of Scarborough, ME, and her older sister Mae Howley also of Lowville. She is survived by four grand children and six great grand children. She was predeceased by her husband Norton, a daughter Margaret Ann, her sisters Angelina (Louis) Meda and Theresa Ely, as well as four brothers, Tony, Virgil, Hector and Floriano Lorenzini. A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glenfield at 10 AM on May 21st with burial at Old Glendale Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will follow. Memorial contributions can be made to either the Carthage or the Lowville community libraries, both of which she loved.
