LOWVILLE - Loretta H. Peebles, 83, of State Route 26, died on Sunday evening, February 26, 2012,at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica, with her family at her side. Mrs. Peebles was born November 19, 1928, in Martinsburg the daughter of the late Walter R. and Martha Belle Snyder Beyer. Loretta attended rural school on the Rector Road. She married Henry Peebles June 12, 1948, in the Castorland Methodist Church. Loretta and Henry owned and operated a dairy farm on State Route 26. Henry died on August 18, 1978. She also was employed by Climax Manufacturing in Castorland, as well as a homemaker. Loretta was a member of the Beaver Valley United Methodist Church at Naumburg. In her spare time, she liked to sing, play her keyboard, strum on her guitar and go for rides. When she was younger she had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She is survived by her four sons: Frank R. Peebles of Tucson, Arizona; Peter H. Peebles of Lowville; Bobby R. Peebles of Woodbridge, Virginia; Scott A. Peebles of Lowville; her three daughters-in-law, Cathy (Lee), Delilah, and Gay; four grandchildren, Mickenzie and Madison of Lowville; Franklin II of Tucson, Arizona and Austin of Burke, Virginia; two brothers, Benjamin F. Beyer , and Walter R. and his wife Nancy Beyer, Jr. all of Lowville; two sisters, Irene M. Micek of Watertown; Marie Brown of Glen Rock, Pa. Loretta is predeceased by her four brothers, Martin J., John D., George W., and Philip P. Beyer; her seven sisters, Jennie L. Sullivan, Vera W. Leviker, Dorothy Unkart, Mildred M. Nuffer, Bertha E. Yancey, Clarabelle M. Zerrillo-Brown, and Martha Drelick. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Beaver Valley United Methodist Church at Naumburg with Rev. Linda J. Harris and Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, retired minister officiating. Spring burial will be in West Lowville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Thursday, March 1st at the Sundquist Funeral Home. Memorials in Loretta's name may be made to: American Heart Association.
