Obituary

GLENFIELD - Leon J. Ford, 91, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, at his home on the Pine Grove Road. Leon was born in the town of Watson on February 13, 1922, the son of the late Louis Milton and Lula Pearl Shaw Ford and graduated from Lowville Free Academy in 1938. He proudly served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre from 1942-1945, after which he was honorably discharged. On July 21, 1947, he was married to Eunice C. Peters in Boonville. Mrs. Ford died in April of 1995. For 55 years, Leon worked for IBEW Local #910 as an electrician in Watertown. He was a life member of the Lewis County Memorial Post #6912 V.F.W. and the Lowville American Legion #162. He enjoyed making maple syrup at home, working at the sawmill and fishing. He was of the Methodist faith. Surviving Mr. Ford are his brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Agnes Ford of Glenfield and his nephew Richard Graves of Brantingham. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ola Castello and Laura Graves. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, retired minister officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Beaches Bridge Cemetery in Watson. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the funeral from noon to 1:00 p.m. Memorials in Leon's name may be made to: Lewis County Memorial Post #6912 V.F.W. or to the Lowville American Legion Post #162.
