LOWVILLE – Kathleen A. Stevens, 81, died early Saturday morning, June 1st, at Rochester General Hospital, where she was a patient for a few days.
Kathy was born in Lowville, on April 25, 1943 the daughter of the late Gilbert M. and Doris Marie (Bush) Thisse. She graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School, the Class of 1961. She married Everett C. "George" Stevens on November 30, 1963 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Msgr. Cotter, officiating. The couple made their home in Lowville. George died on January 30, 1994.
Following graduation, Kathy went to work for Lowville Telephone Company as an operator. She then went to work for her sister at Suzanne M. Stoffle and Associates. Kathy retired from Lewis County General Hospital Radiology Department, where she was the x-ray clerk.
Surviving are her four sons, Rodney J. (Connie) Stevens; Troy L. Stevens; Donald G. Stevens; and William R. (Jaime) Stevens; her four grandchildren, Adam, Katie, Mackenzie (Steffen); and Allison (Joseph); her siblings and sisters-in-law, Marion Thisse (late Nick), Timothy (Jill), Susie Thisse (late Pat), Terrence (Minette), Yvonne (Don) Knataitis, Jerome (Constance) and Jonathan (Lynn), Sharon (Gary) Aubel; her two uncles, Henry Thisse and Cyril Thisse, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kathy is predeceased by her son, Todd M. Stevens, her three brothers, Nicholas H., Michael G. (Mary), and Patrick F., her sister, Suzanne M. (George) Stoffle; and her Stevens' family.
She enjoyed antiquing, collecting "minis" miniatures, dolls, and oil lamps, Kathy loved her boys and spending time with her big family.
Kathy was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church and attended St. Mary's. Kathy's wishes were no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Committal will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Croghan. Following the committal service, everyone is invited to St. Stephen's for a luncheon.
