LOWVILLE -Kathaleen "Kay" Y. Shaw, 94, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Masonic Care Community, in Utica, NY, where she had resided for the past five years. A memorial service to celebrate Kay's life will be held on Thursday, June 25th, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Ed Murphy officiating. A private burial will be in the Beaches Bridge Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Sundquist Funeral Home. Kay was born in Lowville on April 25, 1921, to the late Noah and Katie Martin Yousey. She graduated from Lowville Free Academy in 1939. She attended Wilfred Academy of Beauty Culture in Brooklyn and graduated from Hempstead Beauty School in 1940. On January 3, 1941, she was married to Arthur E. Shaw at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lowville, with Rev. Walter Bennett officiating. She and her husband owned and operated Shaw's Restaurant in West Lowville from 1947-1961. From 1961 until 1975, she operated Kay's Beauty Salon in her home in Lowville. Mrs. Shaw was a member Trinity Episcopal Church, Lowville, and a former member of the Lewis County Historical Society, Constable Hall, and the Lewis County Hospital Auxiliary. Surviving is her daughter, Susan (Larry) Ulrich of Utica, and several dear nieces, nephews and cousins. Kay was predeceased by her husband, her brother and sister-in-law, C. Earl and Lila Yousey and her sister and brother-in-law, Thelma L. and Willis J. Clark, and nephew Willis J.
