IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen Mildred
Mooney
September 16, 1942 – December 10, 2024
Karen Mildred Mooney 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at her Number Four Rd home with loving family at her side after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Born in Watson, NY on Sept. 16, 1942, to Milton and Mildred (Shaw) Flint, she graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1960 then met her lifelong love and partner, Donald A. Mooney. They married on July 29, 1961, in Lowville NY and in the next 7 years had 4 daughters in 3 different states. Karen dedicated her life to creating a home for her husband and raising their four daughters and as an Airforce wife, often times on her own. She found great joy in spending time with her 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Her summers were filled with family camping trips, and she was fortunate to enlarge her family with numerous "surrogate children and grandchildren". Don and Karen also spent 20 plus years wintering in Florida making lifelong friends from all over the country. She loved to shop, not necessarily buying anything but for the time spent with others.
Karen is survived by her husband Donald; four daughters, Denise (Dale) Hall of Lowville, Lynne (Michael) Worden of Glenfield, Alayne (Philip) Widrick of Black River, Dawn (Jason) Hall of Dexter; 10 grandchildren Adam, Jordan, Andrea, Ryan, Emily, Derek, Katie, Donielle, Dalton, and Dayna; 12 great grandchildren and 1 on the way. Siblings, David and Linda Flint, Bruce and Patricia Flint, Jack and Marcia Flint, Ellen and Terrence Kelley. Brothers in law, Virgil Taylor and Ronald Merry, sister-in-law Patricia Flint and many nieces and nephews.
Karen is predeceased by her great grandson Camden Kilionski, her 2 sisters Judith Merry and Gail Taylor and 2 brothers Thomas Flint and Kenneth Flint Sr.
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life event will be held on December 28, 2024, from 1PM-5PM at the Lowville Elks Lowville, NY.
Contributions may be made in Karen's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
We are comforted that Alzheimer's cannot diminish our love for you
or take away our wonderful memories of a life lived fully.
