LOWVILLE - Josephine Repak, 88, died on Monday afternoon, April 29, 2019 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica.
Mrs. Repak was born on March 30, 1931 in the town of Turin, the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Jeszynski) Pogozelski. Josie graduated from General Martin High School in Glenfield. She married John Repak on September 17, 1949 at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Houseville with Rev. Victor Balcerak officiating.
After retiring from dairy farming with her husband she was employed by Kraft Foods. She worked in the packing department and was promoted to supervisor where she held that position for 28 years, retiring in 2000.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John, their children, Judith Cheney of Potsdam; John A. (Stephanie) Repak of Fabius; and Jerome (Nancy) Repak of Wake Forest, NC; five grandchildren, Julie (Jack) and Steven, Benjamin (Sarah), Nicholas, Michele; and two great grandsons, Kellan and Karter. Her sisters Helen Gamble of Watertown and Mary Kraeger of Lowville; several nieces and nephews.
Josie is predeceased by her brothers, Chester, Stanley, and Henry Pogozelski, her sisters Stella Podkowka, Joan Sliwoski, Frances Pogozelski, and Elizabeth Ward.
Mrs. Repak was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church, rosary society and the hospitality committee helping with many dinners. Josie also volunteered at the Lewis County General Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop. She enjoyed reading and cross country skiing, and loved working on her yard.
A funeral mass will be said on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Jay Seymour, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends will be on Thursday, May 2 nd from 5 – 7:00 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
