Joseph Gyore, 91, of the Peckham Road, passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday morning, January 22, 2016.
Mr. Gyore was born November 13, 1924 in Chases Lake, the son of the late Joseph and Magdalena Kalamas Gyore, Sr. He attended rural school at Beaches Bridge and graduated from Lowville Free Academy in 1941.
He married Albina Wieczerzak on October 1, 1949 at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church Houseville with Rev. Victor Balcerak officiating.
Joseph and his father operated the family dairy farm on the Gyore Road until 1962 when he owned and operated it with his wife Albina until their retirement in 1989. Mr. Gyore served on the board of directors for the Lowville Farmers Co-op from 1967-1989. He also served as town assessor from 1960-1972 and as a director on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors, earlier.
Joseph was a communicant of St. Hedwig's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Albina; their three daughters and spouses, Susan Gyore and Russ Palum of Rochester; Marcia and Eric Sunderhaft of Lyons Falls; Janet and Jay Maitland of Ontario, and his grandson, Austin Maitland.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Alex and Ernest Gyore; and his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Mahar.
A funeral mass will be said at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Houseville, on Monday, January 25th at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor officiating.
He will forever be remembered for his easy and caring manner, his talent at many things and his love of family, woodworking, time spent in the woods and his fearless Ford 861 tractor.
