LOWVILLE - John Mark Vance, 54, of Bostwick Street, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday afternoon, November 15, 2011 at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. Born in Lowville on October 16, 1957 the son of the late Herbert C. and Jean M. Hulbert Vance where John graduated from Lowville Academy Central School. He attended college at SUNY Morrisville and Canton. On May 10, 1980 he married Melody L Bailey at Lowville Baptist Church with Rev. Susan Crane-Wolcott and Rev. David Baker officiating. John and Melody operated a New York State Family Care Home from 1983 to 1999 out of their home in Lowville. He was an entrepreneur to present. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Melody, his children, Jena M. Vance and Jeffrey D. Hanno of Lowville; Matthew J. Vance and Christy M. Yerdon of Lowville; Jeremy L. and Carley J. Vance of Mt. Morris; a grandson, Julian Matthew; his brother and his family, Steven and Joanne Vance of Lowville; nephews, Lee and Jessica Vance, and Bryant Vance; John's father-in-law, Clifford J. Bailey; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. John's interests were spending time with Melody and his children and new grandson Julian. He also loved chatting on the phone with his many friends all over the country. His family describes him as someone who loved luxurious recreation, who had a heart of gold and loved to dream big. He lived to perform acts of selfless generosity and spreading the Word of God. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18th at 11:00am at Lowville Baptist Church with his brother-in-law, Pastor Gene Bailey officiating.
