Obituary

WATSON - A memorial service for John A. Marcellus will be at Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, July 16th at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Ed Murphy,officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Beaches Bridge Cemetery. Memorials in John's name may be made to: Cydnie Clark S.T.E.M. John A. Marcellus, 63, died Friday evening,
February 5, 2016 at Lewis County General Hospital .

Mr. Marcellus was born August 22, 1952 in Lowville, the son of Donald Douglas and Avis M. ( Holland ) Marcellus. John graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1970 when he enlisted into the U.S. Navy earning the rank of Hospital Corpsman and was honorably discharged. He met his wife Renee in the navy and they where united in marriage on June 14, 1975 at the Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Ladd K. Harris, officiating.

John was a Respiratory Therapist for Lewis County General Hospital , and retired as Director of Cardio Pulmonary Services. He also worked for Nunn's Home Care.

An avid outdoorsman he was a life time member of Lower Balsam Flats Hunting Club, and a member of Brantingham Snowmobile Club. He always found time to enjoy hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, working with wood in his workshop, and most of all, family.

John was a member of Lowville Elks Lodge #1605, AMVETS Post #99, where he served as Adjutant, he was an avid participant of Lowville American Legion Post #162, where he served as Adjutant and Bar Steward, and contributed many volunteer hours.

He is survived by his wife, Renee; their two children, his daughter Adrienne Bree and husband Jack Clark of Lowville and his son Adam and wife Jenna Marcellus of Roswell, NM; his mother, Avis of Lowville; nine grandchildren, Brianna, Cydnie, Elyse, Lillian, Madilynn, Kiara, Austin, Dakota, and Aiden; two sisters, Bethany Glenn of Syracuse; Marsha Markham of Hampshire, IL; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Donald D. Marcellus.

Calling hours for family and friends were held on Tuesday, February 9th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
