Obituary

WATSON - John M. Hirsch , A graveside service will be on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Beaches Bridge Cemetery with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating. Military honors will be rendered by Beaver River Memorial Post #1663. John Martin Hirsch, 81, died peacefully early Wednesday evening, February 17, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Hirsch was born July 17, 1934 in Kirschnerville, the oldest son of the late Eugene Nicholas and Margaret "Peg" LaBombard Hirsch, where he graduated from Father Leo Memorial School in 1951. He joined the U.S. Army serving in Korea from 1953 to 1955 and was honorably discharged as a corporal.

John worked for a short time at United Block, Croghan, and then
went to live in Syracuse working in Electronics Park at General Electric and at Syracuse University . He came back to Lowville and joined Floyd Marriott in business at the Mobil station in 1957. He later became the sole owner of the business, Marriott & Hirsch, and then selling the station to the Monnat Bros.
On July 13, 1973 he was united in marriage with Constance "Conne" Walker at the Lowville United Methodist Church with Rev. Nay, officiating. The couple made their home on the Number Four Road.
He was a member of the Beaver River Memorial Post #1663, Croghan, and Lewis County Memorial Post # 6912, V.F.W., and Stillwater Number Four Fish & Game Club. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, 4 wheeling, cards and making wood crafts.
Surviving is his wife, Conne, his three sons, Joseph and his wife Heidi of Croghan; Timothy of Tennessee; Nicholas and his wife Melissa of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Anthony, Christopher, Jeffrey, Jessica, Paige, and Lauren; four great grandchildren, Tyler, Koltyn, Sawyer, and Raelynn; his brother, David and Emily of Philadelphia, NY; his sisters, Dolores and Gilbert Monnat of Croghan; Cheryl Steiner of Clinton; several nieces and nephews.
