LYONS FALLS - Joan M. Kilbourn, 80, of Lyons Falls , died Monday morning, December 24, 2018 at Lewis County General Hospital comfort room under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

Mrs. Kilbourn was born August 24, 1938 in Lowville the daughter of the late Clifford L. and Frances M. (Bourcy) Peebles. She graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School . Joan married Charles W. Kilbourn on March 4, 1957 at Church of Holy Cross in Dover , DE with Rev. John M. Donahue officiating. She was a home care giver for over 30 years. Charles died on January 28, 1997 .

She was a member of Forest Presbyterian Church. Joan was an accomplished organist and played at the Forest Presbyterian Church for more than 30 years as well as many other area churches. She gave the gift of music to many students over the years. Joan will be missed by many.

She is survived by her four children, Charles "Mike" (Esther) Kilbourn of Lyons Falls; Kathleen M. (Thomas) Bartlett of Champion; Lynn M. Kilbourn and Ann M. Fenton, both of Lyons Falls; three grandchildren, Kristi Stanford, Gary and Rachel Fenton all of Lyons Falls; her sister Janet Peebles of Georgia.

Her services will be private with Rev. Naomi Kelly officiating. Spring burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery .

The family would like to thank Lewis County Hospice and the Lewis County General Hospital 2nd Floor, East Wing nurses for the wonderful and compassionate care of Joan in her final days.
