at Syracuse VA Medical Center.
Mr. Cobb was born
August 17, 1928
in Fulton, the son of the late George W. and Ruth Alice (Casler) Cobb. He married Viktoria Hopp on
November 15, 1952
at
Bamberg
,
Germany
. Viktoria died on
Saturday, March 17, 2012
.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1945, serving during WW II,
Korea
, and
Vietnam
. Ira was honorably discharged in 1968, the rank of Sergeant. He and Viktoria made their home in Glenfield where Ira was employed by Widmeyer Farm & Home.
Ira was a life member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, V.F.W., and a member of Lowville American Legion Post #162.
He is survived by his three children, two daughters,
Barbara E. Andrzejewski, son-in-law (Hawk) Henry Andrezejewski of Helena, Alabama; Ruth A. Brisson, Syracuse; a son and daughter-in-law, George W. and Rose Cobb of Waynesville, Missouri; ten grandchildren and spouses,
Lisa Andrzejewski, Dana and Ryan Livingston, Danielle Cobb, Jason and Kelly Cobb, Brandon Szlamczynski, George and Dakota Cobb, John Cobb, and Victoria Cobb
; seven great grandchildren; a
sister, Alice Mack, Oswego; two brothers: Dewitt E. Cobb,
Georgia
; Lyle G. Cobb, Union Springs.
He is predeceased by his son, Ira I. Cobb, Jr., two brothers, Floyd W. and Richard P. Cobb, three sisters, Barbara Burnswick, Edith Mae Cobb and Mary Lou Carlson.
Calling hours for family and friends will be at the Sundquist Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28th from
1:00
to
3:30 P.M.
, with his funeral service starting at
3:30 P.M.
at the funeral home with Rev. Mr. Ronald Pominville, Deacon officiating. Spring military burial will be in
