Obituary

LOWVILLE - Hazel E. Burgy, 73, passed away unexpectedly at her home early Sunday morning, May 5, 2013. Born in Lowville on February 1, 1940, to the late Harold John and Anna L. Stoffle Donnelly, Hazel graduated from Lowville Academy in 1957. She married Donald B. Burgy on June 6, 1958. Hazel worked for Dr. Reed as an office nurse and also at the Meda Pharmacy for several years. She then went to work for Community Bank where she loved working with her customers and friends who could always find a jar full of candy on Hazel's desk. She retired from that position in 2010. Hazel was an avid bowler, bowling on a coed league each Sunday night at Lewis Lanes, she loved to read but most of all enjoyed special times with her grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Angelina, Benjamin and Kyle, who survive her. Also surviving are her life-long companion, Larry E. Keefer of Lowville; her three sons, Bruce M. Burgy and his companion, Donna Jones of Syracuse, Brian S. Burgy and his companion, Amy Morrow of Lowville and Derek B. and Chris Burgy also of Lowville; her sister, Linda R. Spencer; brother-in-law Nicholas Egloff and a niece and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by one son Mitchell W; grandson Kyle; her sister Beverly Egloff and two nephews Nicholas and Allen and Larry's children Kathleen and Timothy Keefer. A graveside service will be on Friday, May 10th at 4:00 P.M. at the Lowville Rural Cemetery at with Rev. Ed Murphy officiating.
