CASTORLAND - Grace E. Rupert, 96, formerly State Route 410, died in her sleep at the East Road Adult Home, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 04, 2015. Grace, daughter of Chester T. Slye and Elizabeth Nortz Slye, was born on July 21, 1918, in Martinsburg and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1937. Grace was employed as a bookkeeper for Lowville Producers Dairy Co-op for several years and later worked in the family business, Rupert Sales and Service for 15 years. She retired with her husband and spent her winters in Florida and summers at their cottage at Soft Maple, New York. She was a member of the Baptist Church, Castorland, NY and a former member of the Lowville Grange. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and needlework. She married Frank B. Rupert on April 13, 1940 at the Lowville Presbyterian Manse, with Rev. O Theodore Anderson, officiating. Frank died in October of 1995. A brother, Kenneth Slye is also deceased. She is survived by two sons and their wives, James and Linda Rupert and Fred and Suzanne Rupert, all of Lowville and a daughter, Alice and her husband Fred LeMere of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a sister, Mary Rhode of Lowville. Mrs. Rupert's funeral will be on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at 3:00 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Herb Swanson, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
