LOWVILLE - Gertrude M. "Gert" Sauer, 89, of Valley View Courts, died Saturday afternoon, December 28, 2013 at Lewis County General Hospital. She was born on July 8, 1924 in Carthage the daughter of the late William and Harriet Montgomery Wilson where she attended Carthage High School. Gertrude worked as a clerk at Pine Camp commissary. She married Clarence M. Sauer on January 29, 1945 at the Carthage Methodist Church with Rev. William K. Bradshaw officiating. Gert and Clarence made their home in Carthage and on the Number Four Road before moving to Valley View. Mr. Sauer worked for the town of Wilna and he died in 2000. Gertrude's love was her family, from her children to her great-great grandchildren. Surviving are her four children, Connie and Ron Duncan, Glenfield; Daniel and Laurie Sauer, Carthage; Kris and Mike Parsons, West Leyden; and Barb Hellinger, Lowville; a sister-in-law, Audrey Wilson, Carthage; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brothers and sisters, and a son-in-law, Leo Hellinger. A private service will be held for family with Rev. Beth O'Neil, Pastor of the Lowville Methodist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Gertrude's family would like to "Thank" Drs.
