CARTHAGE - Frederick H. Renaud, 84, died Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Skilled Nursing Unit with his family at his side. Fred was formerly of West Street. Mr. Renaud was born May 17, 1931 in Carthage the son of the late Joseph N. and Elizabeth (Shortt) Renaud where he graduated from Augustinian Academy. He married Shirley Baumert on January 13, 1962. Shirley died on February 11, 2001. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from 1950 to 1954 and was honorably discharged from the reserves as a Master Sergeant in 1991 with 34 years of service. Fred also retired from N.Y. Telephone Company as a telephone installer with 37 years of service. Fred was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus Council #291, Past Commander and Life Member of the American Legion Post # 789, Life Member of the Carthage Elks Lodge # 1762, and exempt member of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department where he served as an Assistant Chief and Foreman of the Steamer Co. Fred enjoyed being an avid coin collector, a collector of piggy banks, antique telephones, and air force memorabilia. He is survived by one daughter, Beth (Mary E.) Renaud of Tampa, FL; two sons and their wives, Tyler J. and Anneliese (Gadde) Renaud of DeWitt, NY; Paul J. and Erin (Richards) Renaud of Carthage, NY; five grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard J. and Elaine Renaud of Carthage, NY; a sister, Anne E. Renaud of Clearwater, FL; nieces and nephews. Fred is predeceased by his daughter, Freda, and a brother Joseph. A mass will be said at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church, with Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor officiating. A military burial will be in new St. James Cemetery. Per Fred's wishes there are no calling hours.
