Mr. Matula was born on
November 6, 1930
in
Turin
, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Kulpa) Matula. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and was the recipient of Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Fred is predeceased by his four brothers, Edward, Joseph, Bennie, and Stephen Matula; his infant sisters, Victoria and Stephanie Matula; his six sisters, Julia Matula, Helen Matula, Jennie Glica, Louise Nizza, Sophie Dubiel, and Stella Domagala.
He was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church, a member of Lowville American Legion Post # 162 and associate member Lewis County Marine Corps League, Detachment #754. He enjoyed playing euchre.
Per Fred's wishes he was cremated. A funeral mass will be said on Thursday, June 14th, at
11:00 A.M.
at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Jay Seymour, Pastor officiating. A military burial will follow in

Family and friends are invited to the Marine Corps League for a pot luck meal following the burial.
