LOWVILLE – Francis S. Lee, 94,
of Park Avenue, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at the Lewis County General Hospital.
Francis was born on June 2, 1921, in Turin, a son of the late Garret and Margaret Miller Lee. After attending a one-room schoolhouse and General Martin school, Francis was employed by the town of Lowville. He earned his dynamite license, and ran the shovel for the quarry in Lowville and during the winter months was a snowplow driver. He retired in 1986. On August 24, 1951, Francis was married to Marilyn Dixie Post at the First Presbyterian Church in Lowville with Dr. O.T. Anderson officiating and the couple made their home in Lowville.
Francis was an avid horseman and had a great love for the Lewis County Fair. He helped Donnie Burgy rebuild the inside of the "show ring" and "warm up ring" at least twice. He was the very dependable night watchman for the horses each year during the fair. Francis also drove the bus for the drum and bugle corps.
Francis was a member of the Lowville #134, F & AM Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.
Surviving are four daughters: Pamela A. Repak (Paul) of Boonville, Patricia S. Kostub of Glenfield, Shari Buckley (Jason) of Brewerton and Kristen A. Lee of Lowville; five grandchildren: Jason M. Repak (Dana) and Sarah E. Richard (Kevin), Jennifer L. Post (Travis), Amber L. Kostrub and Stephanie N. Kostrub; eight great grandchildren: Hensley, Nicholas and Jacob Repak; Harper Frances Richard, Dustin, Caleb, Ashleey and Steven Post.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, who died in May of 2010, Francis was predeceased by an infant daughter, Nancy Lynn Lee in 1972; his brothers Miller S. Lee in 1986 and James G. Lee in 2010 and his son-in-law, Steven D. Kostrub in 2009.
Funeral services for Mr. Lee will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, retired minister officiating. Burial will be in Beaches Bridge Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral services on Tuesday from 12-1 p.m.
