Obituary

CROGHAN - Everett A. Lehman, 84, passed away on Wednesday evening October 7, 2015, at the family homestead on the Erie Canal Road with his family by his side while under the care of hospice. Everett was born in the town of Croghan, February 26, 1931, a son of the late Benjamin and Emma Martin Lehman. He attended Kirschnerville rural school and Beaver Falls High School before his marriage to Doris R. Van Ness on September 19, 1953, at the First Mennonite Church with Rev. Gordon Schrag officiating. Everett served his country at University Hospital in Syracuse as an ambulance driver under the 1-W status, returning to Lewis County where he and Doris owned and operated the family farm. He was also a self-employed truck driver for many years. He retired as Highway Superintendent from the Croghan Highway Department. Everett very much enjoyed his horses, camping and Blue Grass music. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church in New Bremen and of the Black River Valley Campers. Surviving are his wife Doris and their children: Kathleen and Bruce Chartrand and Marilyn and Al Shaw all of Croghan, Valerie Mohran of Lowville, Melanie and Sasha Stanisic of Orlando, FL, Colleen and Norman Farney of Lowville, Lyndon and his companion Rebecca Rice of Croghan and Marcia and Gary Ashline of Castorland; his sister Vera Lyndaker and sister-in-law Donna Lehman; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by six siblings Reuben, Nevin, Myron, Niles, Vernon and Aletha Lehman and his son-in-law Gaber Mohran. Funeral services for Mr. Lehman will be held on Monday, October 12th At 11:00 A.M. at the First Mennonite Church with Ken Landis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sundquist Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials in Everett Lehman's name may be given to: Croghan Ambulance P.O.
